Data is critical to our day to day operations and to you as well. Without data we can't file your reports, you can't see if you exceeded any sales threshold or it might affect your log-in. There are various reasons that might affect the flow of data and the proper functioning of your account. We will get through the various causes and possible solutions below.


1. How our software works


Our software is connected to your Amazon account through the Amazon API. API stands short for application programming interface and is a set of rules that facilitates the communication between our software and Amazon.  Our software makes a request for data to the Amazon server and Amazon sends data to us in the specific format asked for them. Our software then formats the data to be easily visualized and manipulated by you and us. Amazon dictates the rules on how their API works and what access we have as a third-party developer. 


2. The MWS connection


As explained above it is the most important thing to set up your MWS connection correctly the first time you sign-up with our software as this allows us to pull your data from Amazon and create reports. The first thing to check in case of missing data or errors is to check your MWS settings in the integrations menu. If you have filled out all the fields and saved them and received a successful notification in the top right corner.

3. Scheduled import of data


We import data from Amazon on the 4th of every month. That is one of the reasons you might not see any data in your account under the orders, products and files and reports menu. Especially when you first create your account, if the account is created after the 4th of the month, then the data will be pulled only on the next month on the 4th day. This is also valid for new data. So in case of missing data or missing new data, especially as a new user, you can check the calendar.


4. Enable Javascript in the browser


Sometimes Javascript can hinder or improve how a website or a piece of web application like or software functions. You can make sure that Javascript is allowed to run or to enable it following the below steps:

  • On the web browser menu click on the "Customize and control Google Chrome" and select "Settings".
  • In the "Settings" section click on the "Advanced"

  • Under the "Privacy" click on the "Site settings".
  • When the dialog window opens, look for the "JavaScript" section and select "Allowed (recommended)".
  • Close the "Settings" tab.
  • Click on the "Reload this page" button of the web browser to refresh the page.


5. Different cases/errors/bugs


If the above reasons can be ruled out, and you see any missing data or data inconsistency, or you have problems logging in, or you might receive an error, then is a case to contact our support team at support@hellotax.com. Please detail all the steps you made before receiving an error and if possible include a screenshot this will help our support team to analyze the issue faster and find an appropriate solution. 

The causes of an error or bug can be different and multiple, sometimes Amazon has problems with their API or servers and data cannot be pulled from their servers, or sometimes an even an Adblock can hinder the proper functioning of our software. This is happening mainly because of how the software world in general works, continuously updating and improving striving for better results.
