A commodity code is a sequence of 6, 8 or 10 numbers. The commodity code helps the customs determine the duties, charges, preferential treatment or prohibitions that apply to imports. This is used for imports and exports within the EU. The aim of the commodity code is a correct payment of taxes and related duties.
